The X factor

The x factor is a talent contest created by the Mr Simon Cowell himself that comes to your televisions every weekend in the winter months. It is aired on ITV1 at around 8pm. Its host is Dermoit O’Leary, and it has 4 spectacular judges; Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue, Cheryl Cole and last but not least Louis Walsh. The Show consists of a round of auditions, which are shown for the first 6 weeks, then 2 weeks of Boot camp and then roughly 10 weeks of live shows. Each judge gets a category, and this year Simon got the groups, Dannii got the Boys, Cheryl got the girls and Louis got the over 28’s. From the category that each judge got, they got to take their category back to their houses where each judge chose their final 3 to represent their category this year. However, this year, a wildcard was introduced so each judge had 4 acts in their category.
The contestants sing a range of songs linked to the theme for that weekend, and they have to perform every weekend. The judges will give comments at the end of each song and then it is down to you at home to vote and keep your favourite act in the competition.
Each week an act will leave the competition which means the judges are left fighting for their act to win the competition. Dannii Minogue worked her magic this year and her act (Matt Cardle) won the competition without any trouble. He put up a fight each week and got outstanding remarks and was the only contestant who got a standing ovation.
This was a very successful year for the x factor and it will return in 2011.
